Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council (RMBC) has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, skilled and experienced individual to strengthen the Internal Audit Team.
In the post of Senior Auditor, you will assist in delivering an audit programme of work that helps the Council mitigate its key risks and provides assurance over the existence and operation of systems and process controls. You will deliver a range of audit assignments in a timely and efficient way, questioning current processes and suggesting ways to continually improve our services. You will work independently and as part of a small team and will plan and manage your time effectively, ensuring that all work is performed in accordance with the Audit Manual and meets the requirements of GIAS (UK Public Sector).
In doing so you will obtain a unique overview and insight into all Directorates of RMBC and have an opportunity to understand and challenge processes and influence change at senior management level.
You will already have extended experience of working in an audit function, with a proven knowledge and understanding of audit techniques, especially risk based auditing. You will be IIA or AAT qualified, or part qualified CCAB.

Until 31st March 2026 existing employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a monthly deduction from each pay period over the full financial year. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure, those who experience a pay reduction will be awarded three additional days leave (pro rata for part-time). The Council is in consultation with trade unions regarding continuation of any agreement from 1st April 2026.
