Ocean Infinity is seeking a Senior Authorising Electrical Engineer responsible for ensuring electrical safety, lithium-ion battery safety, compliance, and engineering standards within Ocean Infinity. This pivotal role involves acting as the subject matter expert related to electricity and batteries, overseeing the implementation of engineering standards, conducting audits, and providing expert guidance on technical matters. The Senior Authorising Electrical Engineer will work closely with various departments to ensure that all activities involving electricity and batteries meet the relevant regulatory and organisational requirements. This role requires travel to various sites.
While this role will be setting the standards within the company you will be working within a team of skilled engineers and supported by HV trained and experienced colleagues to provide a safe process for all electrical work within Ocean Infinity.

What you will do:Ensure all electrical engineering operations comply with relevant safety regulations, standards, and best practices on land and sea; Conduct regular audits and inspections of electrical practices, battery system procedures and test equipment to identify and mitigate risks; Perform final approval of documentation for companywide High Voltage and Low Voltage procedures, processes and risk assessments; Provide expert advice and guidance on safety issues, including the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical and lithium-ion battery systems; Maintain accurate records of all electrical and lithium-ion battery engineering activities, including audits, inspections, maintenance logs and test equipment; Support the delivery of training programs for employees to ensure they are knowledgeable about safety standards, regulations and best practices; Lead investigations into electrical and lithium-ion battery-related incidents and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence; Work closely with other departments, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure seamless electrical and lithium-ion battery engineering operations; Work closely with engineering, vessel crew and payload manager during installation of new equipment onboard vessels and land based facilities; Ensure that all operatives are competent, as legally defined, to carry out roles and have received the relevant training and instruction, auditing and authorisation of this role will be required; Maintain a record of qualifications and certificates which evidence the legal competency of the operatives.


Who you are:Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior electrical role, focusing on safety and compliance. High level of knowledge relating to electrical engineering standards and regulations, ideally in UK and other jurisdictions, excellent problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills. Demonstrable, certified experience working with high voltage electrical systems; In-depth understanding of lithium-ion battery technologies and related safety regulation strong organisational and management skills; Minimum Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
Desirable:Previous marine HV training as Authorised, Senior Authorised person or Management Level (IMCA, STCW, MCA accredited or similar); Masters in Marine Engineering and Autonomy or related subjects; Previous experience as an Electro Technical Officer (ETO) desirable; Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Training; A Master's degree and membership of relevant a professional body (e.g., Chartered Electrical Engineer); Relevant certifications in electrical safety and engineering practices (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, IEEE) are highly desirable.


Salary for this position: Up to 75,000 per annum
Salary: The salary varies for this position as we are recruiting in multiple regional locations and job grades. The salary process is based on skills, abilities, and experience required.
