What You'll Do

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll play a critical role in building and scaling our high-performance, serverless infrastructure. Your work will directly power systems handling thousands of payment requests per second, with a strong focus on automation, security and observability.

Backend Architecture & Development (35%)

Design and build event-driven microservices using Rust (for high-throughput cores) and TypeScript (for edge and orchestration layers). Architect systems capable of handling thousands of concurrent payment requests per second.

CI/CD & GitOps Ownership (15%)

Implement and maintain GitOps workflows using GitHub Actions and Argo CD. Ensure code is deployed to production within 15 minutes of PR merge, with support for automated rollbacks.

Security & Compliance (15%)

Embed DevSecOps best practices into the development process. Implement and manage security controls aligned with PCI-DSS v4.0, GDPR, SOC 2, and ISO 27001.

Infrastructure as Code (10%)

Automate infrastructure using Terraform and CDK. Maintain repeatable, least-privilege environments across multiple AWS regions.

Observability & Performance (10%)

Champion structured logging, distributed tracing, and metrics collection. Benchmark performance to maintain P99 latencies under 100ms.

API Documentation (10%)

Generate and maintain OpenAPI 3.1 documentation. Integrate tools like Redocly and Spectral into the CI pipeline for automated API docs.

Mentorship & Technical Leadership (5%)

Review pull requests, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the technical roadmap and coding standards.

- Compliance Tooling: Drata, Prowler, HashiCorp Vault.

You'll Thrive Here If You Have

- 5+?years building cloud?native back?end systems in a strongly typed language (Rust, Go, Java, etc.) with at least 1?year production Rust experience.

- Deep knowledge of event?driven architectures (idempotency, exactly?once delivery, saga patterns).

- Proven delivery of Serverless or container?based workloads at scale.

- Hands?on GitOps & CI/CD mindset (Argo?CD, Flux, GitHub Actions) with automated testing & progressive delivery.

- Solid experience with Infrastructure?as?Code (Terraform or CDK) and DevSecOps practices, security tests left of boom.

- Experience implementing or operating under PCI?DSS, GDPR, SOC?2, or ISO?27001 controls.

- Comfortable working in a fast?moving startup, collaborating asynchronously across time zones.

Bonus Points

- Payments industry background (card acquiring, issuing, open banking).

- Knowledge of Cloudflare Workers/Pages, Durable Objects, and Zero Trust policies.

- Familiarity with Zero?knowledge or privacy?enhancing cryptography.

- Community involvement (open?source maintainer, conference speaker, tech blogger).
