What you'll do:

As part of the Engineering Team, your responsibilities will include:

Delivery of new products, features and supporting systems Maintaining and improving our existing products Aiding your squad to deliver meaningful outcomes

Here's what a normal day in the job might look like:

Taking a requirement and building a context around it Exploring asynchronous architecture Exploring an idea with your Product Manager or UX colleague Refactoring code Fixing an issue and pushing it to production

Gaining expertise in your domain Delivering right-sized work You augment your squad and improve outcomes

Here's what we think you'll need to succeed in this role:

You approach things with curiosity You are good at turning ambiguity into consensus You learn from failure You have a good understanding of system design You have an agile mindset You have a good understanding of OOP (or additional bonus functional programming) You understand what is required to ship You can review code You want code to be well-written and appropriately tested You can give and receive feedback constructively

It'll help if you know your way around these tools/apps:

A slew of AWS services Use of command line Docker/containerisation A range of infra as code tools like CDK CI/CD pipelines github observability tools like DataDog

We use these languages at TotallyMoney:

C# dotnet TypeScript/JavaScript (backend) F# (not essential)

You'll excel if you're the type of person who:

Eager to experiment and try new technologies and techniques You're someone who takes ownership and who tries to learn as much as possible Willingness to take new responsibilities Capable of working with minimal guidance to flesh out product requirements and communicate deliverables with stakeholders Has alignment with our company values and engineering principles Has 3 or more years of experience as a Back-End engineer or with similar technologies Proven experience developing new systems & owning end-to-end development cycles
