The Role



As a Senior Backend Engineer at Huler, you'll architect and develop scalable SaaS solutions while providing technical leadership to the team. You will collaborate with our Backend Tech Lead to drive continuous delivery of valuable software and make key technical decisions. You'll be responsible for designing and implementing complex systems, establishing best practices, and ensuring architectural integrity across our Go services. A crucial aspect of your role will be mentoring your fellow engineers and fostering a culture of engineering excellence.

Core Responsibilities



Collaborate with our Product Lead to identify and ship valuable work to our customers frequently Design and implement scalable back-end architectures Lead technical decision-making for critical systems and infrastructure Define and enforce API design standards Drive code quality initiatives and architectural improvements Author comprehensive technical documentation and architectural guidelines Collaborate on and maintain development standards and best practices Lead problem-solving efforts for complex technical challenges Collaborate with infrastructure engineers to architect highly available, secure, and performant systems Mentor engineers and facilitate knowledge sharing within and across teams Lead code reviews and architectural discussions to ensure technical excellence Drive innovation by researching and implementing emerging technology

What you'll bring to the team



Expert Go proficiency, including concurrency and design patterns, with a strong track record in building and maintaining large-scale Go SaaS applications. Advanced database expertise, including design, optimisation, catching, and experience with distributed SQL in SaaS environments. Proven ability to architect robust backend systems, including micro-services, with a deep understanding of DDD, clean architecture, and SOLID principles. Experience with event-driven architectures is a plus. Mastery of collaborative Git workflows and trunk-based development, ensuring efficient continuous integration of software changes. A strong focus on writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code, with a history of establishing and enforcing high code quality standards and automated tooling. Deep expertise in TDD and implementing comprehensive testing strategies for complex systems, along with advanced debugging skills. Significant experience with containerised applications hosted on cloud infrastructure (AWS), experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as CloudFormation and Terraform is a huge bonus for any potential candidate.
