Bean & Bread is an independent, Kiwi-inspired cafe known for its plant filled spaces and seasonal brunch.

We're slowly launching our own small bakery unit to supply our shops with a consistent range of cakes and pastries, all made from scratch and we're looking for the right person to help us lead the way.

This is a hands on role for an experienced baker who's ready to take the reins in a brand new kitchen. You'll be helping shape production from the start, with room to grow a team around you over time.

What You'll Be Doing

Baking a range of cakes, tray bakes, and pastries for Bean & Bread cafes and pre-orders Working to existing house recipes and helping refine and develop new ones Organising daily prep, batch baking, and stock rotation Ensuring consistency, quality, and attention to detail in every product Setting up basic systems for ordering, labelling, and workflow Working closely with the owner and cafe teams to respond to customer feedback and seasonal shifts Supporting future bakery hires and passing on your knowledge as we grow
You'll Need

3+ years professional baking experience (ideally in cake and pastry production) The confidence to take initiative and run a clean, organised kitchen Strong time management and problem solving skills A collaborative mindset and interest in shaping a growing business A genuine love of baking and great ingredients
