Job Description

The Senior BI Developer/Analyst is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of Business Intelligence (BI) solutions across the organisation, reporting directly to the Business Solutions Manager. This role will lead the transition of BI capability in-house, delivering accurate and timely data to support decision making and provide operational insight to headquarters. It ensures alignment with business and technical requirements, supporting process improvement by ensuring data integrity, automation, and innovation, while maintaining and evolving BI solutions in line with ongoing stakeholder needs.

The main responsibilities include:



BI System Development & Maintenance:

Lead the design, development, and ongoing maintenance of BI solutions, including data warehouses, ETL processes, and reporting tools, to fulfil organisational data needs.

Reporting & Data Delivery:

Ensure timely, accurate, and actionable delivery of reports, dashboards, and data extracts to support decision making locally and at headquarters.

Data Quality & Governance:

Implement and uphold robust data governance and quality assurance practices, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and compliance across all BI systems.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

Partner with business units and IT teams to capture reporting requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.

BI Capability Transition:

Lead the transition of BI services from the shared IT function to an internal capability, ensuring the design, implementation, and ongoing management of a fully independent BI environment.

Process Improvement, Automation & Innovation:

Identify and drive ongoing enhancements to BI systems and processes, including automation opportunities, to improve efficiency, responsiveness, and leverage emerging technologies that meet evolving business needs.

Technical Support & Issue Resolution:

Provide second-line support for BI systems, addressing data quality, system performance, and user access challenges.

Documentation & Training:

Maintain comprehensive system documentation and deliver user training to maximise BI tool adoption and proficiency.

The ideal candidate will have:



Data Analysis & Insight:

Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, anomalies, and actionable insights from complex data sets.

Technical Expertise:

Proficient in BI reporting, SQL, data modelling, and data warehouse concepts, with a focus on accuracy and scalability.

Problem Solving:

Demonstrates initiative in resolving data issues and implementing data-led solutions to support continuous improvement.

BI Transition & Delivery:

Capable of overseeing the design, development, and implementation of BI solutions as part of bringing capability in-house.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Confident in working with business and technical stakeholders to understand needs and deliver effective BI solutions.

Communication Skills:

Able to convey complex technical concepts clearly and appropriately to diverse audiences.

Regulatory Compliance:

Awareness of data protection, privacy, and integrity requirements, including GDPR and relevant industry regulations affecting financial services and vehicle leasing. Degree-educated in Mathematics, Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline. Considerable experience in business intelligence, data warehousing, and data analysis, ideally within the financial services or automotive sector. Experience with Agile methodologies and IT project delivery. Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, SAP BusinessObjects, or comparable BI certification in data analysis, reporting, or data warehousing. Sofico Miles, Salesforce, or Dataflow Clarity experience (or equivalent systems knowledge). Proficiency with SQL and ETL tools such as SSIS, with experience in data warehouse architecture, modelling, and optimisation. Familiarity with BI platforms including Business Objects, Pan Intelligence, or similar reporting/visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik). Knowledge of robotic process automation (e.g., UIPath) in data workflows desirable. Additional qualifications in project or change management (e.g., PRINCE2, Lean Six Sigma, ITIL Foundation) are advantageous.
