About the role:


We are looking for an enthusiastic, well-motivated, organised senior BMS with appropriate qualifications and/or relevant experience to join the senior team of the Blood Sciences department as a Senior BMS Quality Manager.

Within the Department of Haematology, which includes both Automation and Specialist sections, the post holder will participate in all areas of laboratory bench work, working in collaboration with other senior scientific staff in Haematology in providing an efficient and effective service. They as a Quality Manager will manage the laboratory's Quality Management System with the aim that the laboratory becomes progressively more effective in quality terms and meets both regulatory and accreditation requirement. The post holder will have the skills and ability to promote quality within all areas of the laboratory. Modern methods of quality management and of quality process control are central to effective Pathology services. They are also vital to the clinical governance and risk management within those services.

The successful candidate should hold a current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). They should have either a specialist diploma in Haematology or an MSc in a relevant subject and at least 3 years experience in a Haematology laboratory as an established BMS.

Our Haematology Department, spread across two floors, is an exciting state of the art laboratory connected to other departments via our GLP track system, which is unique in it's scale and spans over multiple floors. It is based in our flagship hub laboratory, 'The Halo Building' which is home to more than 1,000 staff working within a connected suite of laboratories spanning more than 100,000 square feet. It has dedicated clinical and non-clinical cores for vertical connectivity. The pioneering work conducted at the Halo is seamlessly linked to our group national network of hub and spoke laboratories throughout the UK including NHS Trust.
