Brand Manager

to join our team for 23 months. During that time, you'll be protecting the uniqueness of our brand by collaborating with service owners, content teams, designers and third-party suppliers as we transform our business.

Job summary



The role holder will act as subject matter expert across the NS&I business and with 3rd party supplier partners. Their purpose will be to protect the uniqueness of our brand across all channels and ensure that the correct expression of the brand is being used for the agreed engagement objectives. As an SME you will be expected to be able to articulate confidently and influence others; to know and understand the spirit of the brand as well as the guidelines and collaborate for the best customer outcome.


You will also work to enhance the digital design system, so it is fit for purpose and an accurate representation of our brand proposition and the diversity of our expression.

Job description



Protecting the uniqueness of NS&I



As brand SME, the role holder will work in multiples sprints where their role will be to lead, develop and influence the expression of the NS&I Retail brand as we transform our business through new services. Within these sprint deliveries the senior brand manager will protect the brand by understanding our uniqueness in the market space, what makes us special and knowing how to go about retaining and enhancing that uniqueness. The role holder will work with customer facing teams through third party suppliers to ensure any activities and deliverables are authentic to the brand as well as accurate living our values and customer principles. Offer expert advice and guidance on the activation of the brand offer including purpose and promise through all areas of the business including marketing communications, product and service and experience, as well as areas outside of Retail. To play a lead role in bringing the brand and customer experience to life at all customer touchpoints to meet brand promise and purpose. Act as brand mandatory expert sign off

Developing and progressing the brand



The role holder will consider opportunities to develop the brand as appropriate for a business that aspires to a seamless customer experience across all channels by working closely with the wider brand team, our brand agency and any other appropriate colleagues and partners. Use insight such as CSAT, customer feedback, customer listening to improve quality of communications to positively impact numbers of complaints, operational issues - and make suggestions of how insight can be actioned from brand experience viewpoint.

Stakeholder management, Collaboration & Agency/ Third part supplier Management



Using specialist expertise, manage third party relationships effectively to ensure brand communications are delivered on time and to budget, by building a strong working relationship that improves third party understanding of the wider NS&I retail business. The role holder will support, influence and challenge stakeholders, business processes, and service delivery owners, to help ensure that the NS&I brand proposition, brand expression and customer principles are embedded in NS&I's customer-facing experiences and communications, protecting our brand proposition, it's expression and the customer. Build relationships with service design and delivery and work directly with them to resolve any issues that will affect business, delivery of projects and customers. The role holder will collaborate with the colleagues across content design and service delivery as well as with third party operational partners and brand design agency to resolve issues as they are encountered and help move projects forward with no cost to customer or brand.

Other Duties



Successfully operate in a team with transferable skill sets to mitigate risk. The role holder will act as Product Owner, service owner or business manager as required. The role will act as mentor and coach to others across to business to embed our brand.

Person specification



Essential Qualifications



Degree in communications, design, or a relevant field, or substantial equivalent experience in brand management or related disciplines.

Essential Experience



Working with brand in a digital environment. Experience balancing expression with functional requirements and user experience Experience of working in sprint and agile methodology. Experience in a brand or communications role, either client or agency side. Experience working across a range of channels and media types, including apps and websites. Experience effectively managing external agencies - from value costs analysis, briefing, evaluating work and assuring - through to delivery of final outputs Working and delivering branded experiences through third party suppliers

Essential Skills



Knowledge of how content design and design work together. Knowledge of digital design systems and pattern libraries, ensuring cohesive and consistent visual branding across platforms. Knowledge of applying brand expression to different media and channels through a variety of engagement experiences with specific objectives Knowledge and understanding of the craft of design and design standards off and online. Knowledge of Service Design and Design Thinking Knowledge of Accessibility guidelines ###
