As a Senior Building Surveyor you will play a key role in managing and developing your surveying team providing support to your Associate team leader. You will be overseeing the delivery of capital works and surveys and will be YMD's client representative in some cases, ensuring compliance with company processes and procedures.
Responsibilities
Property Inspections and Surveys:
Conduct detailed inspections of building the education sector, commercial, and industrial buildings to assess their condition.
Identify and diagnose building defects, including structural issues, damp, and fire safety problems.
Provide accurate and thorough reports on the condition of buildings, recommending repairs and maintenance as needed.
Advisory Services:
Advise clients on the suitability of building materials, construction methods, and renovation plans.
Offer expert guidance on compliance with building regulations, health and safety standards, and environmental guidelines.
Help clients with managing and maintaining their properties, advising on energy efficiency improvements and sustainability options.
Project Management and Supervision:
Oversee and manage construction or renovation projects, ensuring they are completed within budget and on time.
Liaise with architects, engineers, contractors, and other professionals involved in building projects.
Monitor the progress of works and ensure compliance with design specifications and legal requirements.
Legal and Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure that properties comply with local building codes, planning regulations, and health and safety laws.
Provide advice on planning applications and building permits.
Prepare and review documentation for building projects, including specifications, contracts, and reports.
Client Liaison and Communication:
Communicate with clients regularly to provide updates and recommendations.
Respond to client queries and resolve issues regarding building defects, repairs, and improvements.
Manage and negotiate contracts for building works, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality outcomes.
Reports and Documentation:
Prepare detailed written reports, including survey findings, risk assessments, and cost estimates for repairs or improvements.
Maintain records of inspections, surveys, and other relevant documents for clients and internal use.
Support your line manager, the Associate Building Surveyor, to meet the company KPI's and goals.
Development:

Key skills and experience
At least 5 years' relevant experience.
BSc in Building Surveying or similar, or QBE.
Working towards full membership of the RICS.
Ability to strategically approach problem solving.
Ability to prioritise and coordinate tasks efficiently ensuring all deadlines are met.
Attention to detail.
Proactive.
Full UK driving licence.
