What does the role involve?




As a Senior Building Surveyor, you'll be autonomously leading and managing projects from inception to completion, without supervision and with minimal guidance from line management. The role involves working collaboratively with a varied team of construction professionals and stakeholders to allow projects, professional services and tasks to be delivered safely on time, and to budget whilst ensuring high levels of client satisfaction

Responsibilities



Manage projects of varied size and complexity including preparation of project design and specifications Advising the client on procurement/contacts and act as the contract administrator Preparation of tender documentation, tender reports and recommendations to the client Undertaking day to day duties of either the Contractor Administrator or Employers Agent Interpreting drawings and designs produced by others and advise upon the technical detail and analyse the design in accordance with the technical brief, statutory requirements, and instructions of the client Lead on and undertake condition surveys and liaise with other specialists Carry out or manage others undertaking measured surveys of existing buildings or sites Undertake site inspections Oversee professional matters including but not limited to Party Wall Matters, Acquisition and Condition Surveys and Dilapidations Keep Associate Directors fully informed of progress Receive Client instructions and agree fee proposals for various projects and professional surveying instructions Maintaining technical working understanding of Buildings, construction, management and operations, including their defects Advising and reporting on building defects, maintenance and repairs in a concise and accurate manner Understand the statutory approvals processes, including making and managing the Planning, Listed Building Consent and Building Control Approval, process successfully Working within the working process of RIBA Plan of Works and overseeing multi-disciplinary project teams Undertake the training and development of others Always take personal responsibility for the health and safety of yourself and others by working within company H&S procedures Endeavour to improve our social and environmental impact Any other duties as reasonably required

Requirements



Ideally Chartered accreditation, or working towards (we can support you on your journey to chartership) Ideally Degree qualification (RICS accredited or equivalent) Previous experience as a Building Surveyor Ability to deliver larger and more complex projects through the whole project lifecycle Ability to delegate tasks to others within the team and support their work Support junior members of the team with mentoring and development Development of leadership and management skills Ability to manage fees and assist with fee bids Generate new work through the management of client relations Ability to work on own initiative to drive to generate new business Understanding of the account management process Ability to analyse projects and report performance to line manager Excellent knowledge of CDM and construction Health & Safety
