About the Role



We are looking for an experienced

Senior Business Development Manager

to drive revenue growth, strengthen our market leadership, and elevate the full business development lifecycle. This role is central to shaping our commercial success--ensuring high-quality BD handovers, maintaining forecasting accuracy, and building strong relationships with developers, contractors, and architects.

As a trusted advisor and strategic partner, you will combine technical understanding with commercial insight to influence early-stage design discussions, guide clients through complex solutions, and contribute directly to Sapphire's long-term vision.

Key ResponsibilitiesCore Business Development



Drive consistent achievement of BD Handover Values and maintain Handover Scores of 8+. Ensure zero overdue calls and maintain a proactive calling routine to manage the pipeline effectively. Deliver accurate, investor-level forecasting that supports strategic business decisions. Lead early engagement with developers, main contractors, and architects, providing technical and costing advice. Host and lead external design meetings, demonstrating deep product and technical knowledge. Master essential BD skills including cold calling, appointment setting, face-to-face meetings, and negotiation. Understand client needs, follow the Sapphire Streamline By methodology, and deliver high-quality proposals.

Strategic & Market-Focused Activities



Maintain strong relationships with "Gold Customers" across the UK & Ireland, reporting on engagement effectiveness. Track sales velocity and ensure data inputs are accurate, meaningful, and actionable. Develop tailored strategies to unlock opportunities with challenging or reluctant clients. Actively gather market intelligence, staying informed on every tender and opportunity before BD handover. Analyse industry trends, competitor behaviour, and emerging technologies to identify risks and opportunities. Propose and support departmental initiatives that feed into Sapphire's Vision, Culture & Purpose (VCP). Produce insights, analysis, and presentations for the BD Director as part of broader strategic projects. Suggest and implement improvements across tactical, operational, and strategic departmental processes.

Leadership & Collaboration



Champion CRM accuracy, reporting excellence, and dashboard management. Share best practice by engaging subject matter experts and staying ahead of market standards. Lead internal training sessions on negotiation, technical selling, and strategic account management. Collaborate closely with the team, supporting collective KPIs and stepping in wherever required.

Skills & Experience



Proven success in B2B business development or sales, ideally in a technical or construction-related field. Strong commercial awareness and strategic negotiation ability. Resilient, proactive, and results-driven with excellent relationship-building skills. Confident communicator with strong presentation and storytelling technique. Data-driven, digitally fluent, and experienced with CRM systems. Highly organised with exceptional time-management skills. Strong pipeline management experience with a track record of revenue achievement. Proficiency in CRM platforms and MS Office Suite. Degree in Business, Marketing, or equivalent professional experience. Full UK driving licence (clean preferred).
