We need a Senior Business Intelligence Developer to join our Digital services team.
Joining our team on a full time, 40hrs per week basis, you will work in a hybrid capacity, working 2 days per week out of our Birmingham office and 3 days remotely.

The Role:
A data professional with a clear proven track record of supporting an organisation wide analytics strategy, supporting the needs of customers within a self-service BI environment, developing report requirements with strong knowledge of BI Development approaches and database and reporting technologies.
You will help translate business requirements into technical solutions, support in the data design and architecture, model complex datasets, create interactive data visualisations and support in transforming Cygnet into a data driven business. Being passionate about data and how insight can make the business more efficient and effective is essential to the role.
Your day to day:

  • Work with multiple stakeholders to understand, interpret and translate complex business requirements into technical specifications and wireframes
  • To create, develop and maintain data models promoting best practice
  • Generate queries against data sources to setup solutions and test solutions for accuracy and performance
  • Develop a suite of BI reports containing visualisations and wider methods for exploiting data for business value
  • Problem-solve issues relating to bugs, refresh failures and performance
  • Establishing and managing BI platforms, workspaces and Apps in a structured manner
  • Promote a self-service standard reporting business culture and BI concepts across the organisation
Qualifications and Experience
  • Must have at least 5 years previous experience in a BI developer or related data analytics role
  • Expertise in Data Visualisation concepts to promote impact on business users and consistency
  • Strong experience of data modelling especially semantic models
  • Experience with the report development lifecycle
  • Strong experience of developing and maintaining performant BI reports and dashboards
  • Expertise in BI platforms like Power BI or equivalent including DAX or similar
  • Strong SQL Skills
  • Statistical methods and data analysis skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills in order to explain complex concepts to non-technical or senior stakeholders
  • Effective listening skills in order to understand the requirements of the business
  • Planning, time management and organisational skills
  • The ability to deliver under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Great attention to detail
  • Self-motivation and comfortable working independently
  • Knowledgeable in data management and governance including data protection
  • Evidence of providing clear documentation of data processing and logic
  • Engaged and enthusiastic about industry changes and bringing innovation into the business
  • Team working skills and a collaborative approach to sharing ideas and finding solutions
  • Experience of coaching / mentoring others in best practice and technical challenges
