Role Purpose:
The
Senior Buyer
is responsible for managing procurement activities, supplier relationships, and strategic sourcing initiatives to ensure the company obtains quality goods and services at the best value. This role requires strong negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills to drive cost savings, improve supplier performance, and support business goals.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement sourcing strategies for assigned categories to meet cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
Manage the full procurement lifecycle: supplier selection, request for quotation (RFQ), price negotiation, contract management, and purchase order issuance.
Conduct market analysis to identify cost reduction opportunities, new suppliers, and alternative supply options.
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships; monitor supplier performance against KPIs (quality, delivery, cost, compliance).
Manage and negotiate supplier contracts, pricing, and terms to maximize value.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Sales, R&D, Supply Chain, Finance) to define requirements and support business needs.
Lead supplier negotiations to achieve favourable terms on pricing, contracts, and service levels.
Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and relevant regulations.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
5+ years of procurement experience, with at least 2-3 years in a senior or strategic buyer role.
Strong knowledge of sourcing, negotiation, and contract management.
Experience in supplier relationship management and performance evaluation.
Proven ability in cost control with the ability to deliver improvements in pricing, contracts, and service levels.
Proficiency in procurement systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Desirable:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Procurement, or related field
Professional certification (e.g. CIPS)
Negotiation training (e.g. GAP)
Project management or process improvement (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma)
Personal Attributes:
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Proven top negotiator with the ability to secure best-value outcomes while maintaining strong, collaborative supplier relationships
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
A strategic thinker
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
