Job Description
Our client is looking to appoint a Senior Buyer who will be responsible for purchasing or direct and in-direct requirements and will be responsible for delivering cost savings and quality.
The Senior Buyer purchase materials and services from new and existing suppliers, source new suppliers and set up supplier agreements and contracts to ensure that materials and services are sourced in a timely, cost effective and professional manner to meet schedules, and demand.
Responsibilities of the role will include:
- Place purchase orders with Suppliers and negotiate pricing, terms and delivery dates
- Work closely with internal colleagues to understand their purchasing requirements in terms of quality and technical specification
- Building relationships with Suppliers and evaluate performance to ensure they continue to meet quality and delivery performance expectations
- Maintain Purchasing schedules and identify and resolve any issues
- Ensure the procurement system is fully maintained and up to date and that changes
- Proven experience of working as a Buyer or Senior Buyer
- Experience of working with Suppliers to build strong relationships and improve supplier performance
- Knowledge of procurement systems and supporting improvements to procurement systems and procedures.
- Must be able to prioritise in a fast-moving environment
- Self-motivated person who enjoys challenges
- Resourceful person with good problem-solving and negotiation skills
