What are we looking for?

This position is for a qualified Senior Cardiac Physiologist (Equivalent to AFC Band 7) with specialist interest in one or more of either: intervention, CRM or EP and also who possesses general clinical skills, knowledge and experience in non-invasive (NIV) and invasive cardiology. The successful candidate would perform a range of diagnostic test with NIV including 12 lead ECG, ECG holter monitoring, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and exercise tolerance testing. Cardiac rhythm management (CRM) will include independent follow up and close monitoring a range of pacemakers, ICDs, CRT devices and remote follow up. Within Invasive Cardiology, duties will include angiograms, right heart catheters, coronary intervention and percutaneous valvular implants. CRM lab implants will include solo implanting of pacemaker, ICD and CRT OR the candidate will be solo and proficient, specialist expertise in EP/Ablation studies.

Routine clinical work will take place at Cleveland Clinical London over four or five days per week (depending on service requirements). This is a flexible position in terms of the number of hours/days and as a result there are opportunities to work long and short days. The successful applicant would be required to contribute to both in- and outpatient services at all Cleveland Clinic London facilities. The future postholder would work as part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of physiologists, scientists, nurses, consultants, surgeons, porters, managers and administrators. They will report directly to the Lead Cardiac Physiologists.

What will your duties include?

Participates to a high level of competency in all sections of the Non-invasive and invasive cardiac physiology departments including Cardiac Cath labs procedure (EP or CRM inc PCI and right heart caths) inc non-invasive exercise (ETT), 12 lead ECGs, ECG holters & analysis, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. Required to concentrate for long periods of time (for periods in excess of 2 hours).

Interprets technical information/data from patient investigations and prepares reports, bringing any clinically significant findings to the attention of the consultant.

Non-Invasive Cardiology: Attends the delivery of ECG Holters, ambulatory blood pressure and event recorders from fitting, removal and analysis providing a technical report.

Provides technical support to all wards for non-invasive throughout the hospital and maintains cardiology related stock levels in all the aforementioned areas.

Carries out ETTs who may have pacemaker/ICD\xe2\x80\x99s in situ.

During all cardiac investigations where the patient is at immediate risk of arrhythmia or arrest, monitors patient\xe2\x80\x99s ECG, reports immediately in the event of any rhythm change/arrest and responds immediately to rescue the patient (provides life support /external defibrillation).

Assists in cleaning clinic/laboratory at the end of each investigation/procedure.

Moves heavy equipment.

Undertakes complex device follow up and interpretation inc pacemakers, ILRs, CRT and ICDs.

Invasive Cardiology: Assists the delivery of EP or CRM services in collaboration with lead cardiac Physiologists. Undertakes PCI, right heart caths and associated specialist equipment i.e. IABP, impella, IVUS, FFR, rotablation.

Participates in Cardiology Department meetings providing input to service developments of the Department. Assist in the implementation of these. Undertake department audits and patient/public presentations.

What we need from you?

Technical skills enabling measurement and analysis of physiological parameters.

Understands the use of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.

If specialising in EP, familiar with 3D mapping, carto, ablation techniques.

HCPC Clinical Scientist registration (or working towards/eligible) (Desirable)

Use of EPIC, PaceArt and GE holters, GE cardiosoft exercise software and GE haemodynamics Siemens Sensis and EP GE Cardiolab. (Desirable)

Familiar with all pacemaker programmer manufacturers. (Desirable)

BSc (Hons) in Cardiac Physiology or equivalent science-based degree with relevant experience in a cardiac physiology department.

Intermediate or Advanced Life Support (ILS/ALS).

Owns postgraduate Certification in Cardiology specialty e.g. BHRS / IBHRE (either CRM/EP or both) accreditation or equivalent.

Experience in a wide range of invasive and non-invasive techniques inc CRM complex ppm/ICD/CRT device follow-up, involved in assessment and therapy provision for patients with cardiac disease.

Minimum 5 years concentrated experience in area of specialism.

Solo and proficient in all areas of Non-Invasive Cardiology and specialises in invasive cardiology in either intervention with solo CRM implants or EP studies/ablation
