Abbeyfield Northumbria has an immediate vacancy for a compassionate and experienced Senior Care Assistant to join our team at Abbeyfield House residential care home in Alnwick, Northumberland NE66 2NZ.

36 hours per week on day, night and weekend shifts which are worked on a rota basis.

Pay rate is 15.46 and all staff get statutory leave. You will need to be qualified to NVQ3 and have at least two years experience of managing a team of Care Staff.

You will be responsible for supervising and providing care to elderly residents in our care home. Your role will involve assisting with daily activities, creating care plans, and ensuring the well-being of our residents.

Duties:
- Supervise and coordinate the care provided to residents in the care home
- Assist residents with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Administer medications according to prescribed instructions
- Create and update care plans based on individual resident needs
- Monitor and report any changes in residents' health or behaviour
- Communicate effectively with residents, their families, and other healthcare professionals
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents
- Assist with meal planning and preparation
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for residents

- Ensure compliance with CQC, H& S, Safeguarding regulations at all time

-Ensure compliance with Abbeyfield policies and procedures

- Oversee staff and contribute to their management and development

- Liaise with external agencies, medical professionals and regulatory bodies as required

- Deputise for the Manager/ Deputy Manager in her absence

- Attend meetings and training as required

Qualifications and Skills:
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care is required
- Experience of supervising a team of care assistants
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Compassionate and patient demeanour when working with elderly individuals
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Proficient in using IT systems for documentation purposes

- Meticulous attention to detail
