We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Senior Care Assistant to provide high-quality care and support to residents in a long-term care or assisted living environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with elderly individuals, those with disabilities, or patients requiring specialized memory care. This role involves assisting residents with daily activities, monitoring health status, and ensuring a safe, comfortable, and respectful environment. A strong understanding of patient care protocols, safety procedures, and HIPAA regulations is essential to deliver exceptional service and maintain compliance standards.
Duties
Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature
Administer medications following prescribed care plans and document all medication administration accurately in compliance with HIPAA guidelines
Support residents with meal preparation and feeding, ensuring nutritional needs are met
Provide companionship and emotional support to promote mental well-being
Utilize specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe resident transfers and mobility assistance
Observe and report changes in residents' health status or behavior to nursing staff or supervisors
Maintain cleanliness of resident rooms and common areas in accordance with health standards
Assist with documentation related to care plans, progress notes, and incident reports
Follow infection control procedures including proper cleaning techniques and use of PPE
Qualifications
Prior experience in assisted living, nursing home, home health, hospice care, or group home settings preferred
Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, autism spectrum disorders, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities required
Certifications such as First Aid, CPR, and HIPAA compliance are highly desirable
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required for resident transfers or mobility assistance
Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and recognizing changes in condition
Excellent communication skills for working effectively with residents, families, and healthcare teams
Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for residents
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Experience with medication administration, care planning, vital signs measurement, and assisting with complex needs such as dementia or hospice care is preferred
