Overview
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Senior Care Assistant to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will deliver high-quality care that promotes independence, dignity, and well-being for our residents. You will work closely with residents, their families, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure personalized care plans are effectively implemented and maintained. Your proactive approach will help create a lively environment where residents can thrive and enjoy every day.
Duties
Provide compassionate support with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance using equipment such as Hoyer lifts and resident's personal aids.
Monitor residents' health by observing vital signs, managing medication administration in accordance with care plans, and reporting any changes promptly to nursing staff.
Assist with meal preparation, ensuring dietary requirements are met while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all areas.
Support residents' cognitive and emotional well-being through meaningful engagement, including Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory support, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism.
Maintain accurate documentation of resident progress, care plans, incident reports, and medication records while adhering strictly to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
Conduct regular patient observation to identify potential health issues early and ensure safety at all times.
Participate in team meetings and ongoing training to stay current with best practices in senior care, hospice support, home health services, and social work principles.
Qualifications
Proven experience in assisted living or long-term care environments; group home experience is highly desirable.
Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and dementia or Alzheimer's care.
Certified in first aid and CPR; additional certifications such as HIPAA compliance or hospice care are advantageous.
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using appropriate equipment like Hoyer lifts; physically fit to meet the demands of caregiving tasks.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work compassionately with residents who have complex needs or disabilities.
Experience working within home & community care settings or nursing homes is preferred.
