McAuley Mount - Senior Care Assistant - 35 hours per week



This role will be subject to a suitable DBS check, 2 satisfactory references and the right to work in the UK.



Job Summary:


As a Senior Care Assistant working as part of a team at our Home, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our residents You will take responsibility for the daily organisation of care delivery and staffing including overseeing and implementing care plans, acting as a positive role model by forming and maintaining open and constructive relationships and supervising care staff and ensuring the well-being of our residents. You will also deliver person centred care in the Home and ensure that a compassionate and quality service is provided to our residents. You will enable residents to remain as independent as possible, ensuring their dignity is respected and assist them to remain an active part of the community. Strong leadership skills are essential in this role to maintain the highest standards of senior care.

Duties


- Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility.

- Administer medication
- Supervise and support care staff, providing guidance and leadership as needed.
- Develop and implement individual care plans tailored to each residents' needs.
- Communicate effectively with residents and colleagues, to ensure continuity of care.
- Maintain accurate records of residents' progress and any changes in their condition.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge related to senior care.

You will have:


- Proven experience of delivering personalised care for older people in a residential care setting
- Previous experience of leading a team; inducting, mentoring & supervising staff
- Excellent communication skills

- Minimum NVQ level 3/4 in Health & Social Care or be prepared to work towards it
- Proficiency in IT systems for maintaining records and documentation.
- Knowledge of senior care practices and the ability to implement effective care plans.
- A compassionate approach with a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for sisters.

MAIN DUTIES



CARE OF RESIDENTS



1.

Ensure the residents needs are met as fully as possible, in a manner that ensures their dignity is respected.

2.

Ensure that residents are consulted on and participate in all aspects of their care, where possible.

3.

Assist the Home Manager and Deputy Home Manager to assess residents needs and potential risks.

4.

Assist with care planning and participate in reviews. Ensure that these are designed to place residents at the centre of their care, treatment and support by enabling them to make decisions.

5.

Ensure that care plans and risk management plans are adhered to in order to ensure there is a consistent approach to meeting needs.

6.

Report any changes in resident's health and well being e.g. physical, mental, or emotional needs to the Home Manager, to ensure that care plans are amended as necessary.

7.

Facilitate a holistic approach to care by understanding the importance of resident's life experiences, relationships, their needs and wishes.

8.

Ensure that residents medication is stored, administered and recorded in accordance with policy guidelines and regulations.

9.

Report any changes in resident's health and any concerns to the Home Manager to ensure that medication is reviewed as necessary.

10.

Ensure that when residents attend a hospital or doctor's appointment, all relevant information is available for the consultation and that the outcome of the appointment is recorded / shared with the staff team.

11.

Provide assistance with personal care, as and when required, i.e. bathing, washing, dressing, nail care, oral hygiene and any other personal care need as detailed on individuals' care plans. Carry out these tasks in a manner that is respectful of the resident's privacy, dignity and wishes.

12.

Provide care in a manner that promotes choice, autonomy and independence.

13.

Promote the social care of the residents by encouraging recreational / leisure activities and enabling service users to maintain contact with family and friends. Ensure residents are sufficiently stimulated and occupied.

14.

Enable residents to lead self determining lives by encouraging and enabling them to make choices / decisions about their day to day lives, the care they receive and their futures. Help to enable them to take an active part in their community in appropriate settings.

15.

Ensure that spiritual needs are met in a manner commensurate with the individual's needs and wishes.

16.

Ensure complaints and incidents are recorded and reported to the Home Manager or Designated Trustee, as appropriate and in accordance with Institute policy and guidance.

STAFF TEAM



1.

Ensure the care team are providing a high quality service within legislative and policy guidelines.

2.

Monitor staffs' performance and provide guidance, advice and support as necessary,

3.

Report any concerns about performance and conduct to the Home Manager.

4.

Assist with the induction of new staff ensuring they are familiar with the work environment, care plans, policies and procedures, ethos of the Home, their role within the Home and expectations in respect of professional behaviour. Ensure staff deliver services in a way that ensures residents human rights and diversity are respected.

5.

Promote effective communication by participating in staff meetings, handovers, and completing communication books, diary etc.

6.

In the absence of the Home Manager and Deputy Home Manager, organise cover in the event of staff sickness or annual leave.

7.

Ensure high standards of cleanliness are maintained by monitoring the work of housekeeping staff and care staff, reporting any areas of concerns.

Qualifications:



- Minimum NVQ level 3/4 in Health & Social Care or be prepared to work towards it

- Previous experience in senior care within a Care Home setting.

- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.

- Proficiency in IT systems for record-keeping and communication purposes.

- Excellent communication skills to interact compassionately with residents

- Passion for providing high-quality care person centred care with empathy and respect.

Interviews are week commencing 20th October.

Pay: 15.08-19.51 per hour
