Your purpose is to ensure the meticulous accuracy, compliance, and effectiveness of all care delivery and its documentation. While providing limited direct care for complex needs, your primary focus is on administrative oversight, clinical audit, and supporting the Deputy Manager to ensure the home's systems operate flawlessly. You are the expert in our processes, the mentor to our team leaders, and a vital assurance check on the quality and safety of the care we provide.
2. Key Responsibilities & How You Contribute to an 'Outstanding' Service
A. Clinical Governance, Compliance & Audit ('Well-Led' & 'Effective')

Act as the day-to-day lead for the home's digital care planning system (MCM), ensuring all records, care notes, and risk assessments are completed to a high standard, are accurate, and fully compliant with GDPR.
Conduct regular and systematic audits of care plans, medication records (MAR charts), fluid/food charts, and accident/incident reports, identifying trends and reporting findings directly to the Deputy Manager.
Work closely with the Deputy Manager to prepare for and action any requirements from external bodies, including the CQC, local authority, or NHS partners.
Be the in-house expert on the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), supporting staff with best practice and ensuring legal compliance is documented.
B. Medication Management & Complex Clinical Support ('Safe' & 'Effective')

Hold primary responsibility for the safe ordering, storage, administration, and disposal of medication in accordance with company policy and NICE guidelines. Act as the home's medication lead.
Conduct regular audits of medication processes and provide training and support to Team Leaders and care staff to address any errors or knowledge gaps.
Provide direct, hands-on clinical support for clients with the most complex health needs, acting as a specialist resource for the team.
Liaise with community nurses, GPs, and pharmacists regarding medication queries and changes, ensuring seamless communication.
C. Leadership, Supervision & Development ('Well-Led')

Provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and support to Team Leaders, helping them develop their leadership skills and manage challenging situations.
Assist the Deputy Manager with the formal supervision and appraisal process for Team Leaders and senior staff.
Lead on the investigation of clinical incidents and safeguarding alerts, producing clear, concise reports for the management team.
Support the induction of new clinical staff, with a specific focus on care planning and medication administration competencies.
Act as a champion for Infection Prevention and Control, conducting audits and mentoring staff to uphold the highest standards
D. Operational & Administrative Support ('Responsive')

Act on daily delegated tasks from the Deputy and Registered Manager, which may include liaising with families about complex queries, coordinating hospital appointments, or managing staffing allocations in response to changing needs.
Monitor staffing levels in real-time and support the Deputy Manager in making necessary adjustments to ensure safe and effective care delivery.
Be a key point of contact for professionals visiting the home, such as social workers or district nurses, providing them with accurate clinical summaries and documentation.

Essential Criteria & How this will be assessed
Experience & Qualification: Significant experience as a Team Leader or Senior Carer. A Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care is essential; a Level 4 or 5 qualification is highly desirable. Shown through Certification / Application Form.
Clinical Administration: Exceptional administrative skills with proven experience in maintaining accurate, compliant digital care records. Meticulous attention to detail. Shown through Interview / Task Review.
Medication Competency: Must be a qualified and confident medication administrator with a deep understanding of the principles of safe handling, storage, and audit. Shown through Certification / Practical Assessment.
Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) Lead: Knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control, conducting audits and mentoring staff to uphold the highest standards.
Leadership & Mentoring: Proven ability to mentor, support, and develop junior staff and team leaders, rather than just direct them. Shown through Interview / References.
Communication: Exemplary written and verbal communication skills. Able to produce clear, professional reports and communicate complex information to families and professionals. Shown through Interview / Written Exercise.
Problem-Solving: A proactive, analytical approach to identifying issues through audit and developing solutions to improve systems and processes. Shown through Interview / Scenario Testing.
Mandatory Training: Current, certified training in Medication Administration, Safeguarding Adults at Level 3, MCA/DoLS. Shown through Certification.
Right to Work: Proof of eligibility to work in the UK. Shown through Documentation.
Desirable Criteria & How this will be assessed
Experience: Experience in conducting audits, writing reports, and contributing to CQC inspection preparation. Shown through Application Form / Interview.
Qualification: An accredited qualification in medication train-the-trainer or audit. Shown through Certification.
