We are recruiting a Senior Care Assistant for days and/or nights in our beautiful care home. Full or part time contracts are available. Some medication responsibility at times to support the nursing staff - successful applicants will have attained at least NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care. Shifts are 8-8, paid breaks and uniform provided.
Duties and Responsibilities:
To build up good relationships with the residents under his/her direct care and to provide them with daily care to help them maintain and improve, where possible, their independence, individuality and mobility.
To assist the residents to carry out their activities of daily living e.g. washing, dressing, eating and bathing.
To assist with serving snacks and beverages to residents and their visitors, adhering strenuously to Food Hygiene regulations.
To take care of the residents clothing, ensuring the correct collection, distribution and return of all laundered items.
To carry out bed making and changing of linen.
To keep the residents rooms tidy at all times.
Assist with the tidiness of the resident's bedrooms and communal areas, ensuring a safe environment.
To ensure the security of the residents' property and that of the Home. Report and hand in any lost property.
To carry out duties in such a way as to ensure the economical and safe use of resources and equipment.
To assist qualified staff in the admission of new residents.
To assist Registered Nurses, under supervision and where appropriate, to carry out their clinical responsibilities for the residents e.g. medication, hygiene care, wound dressings.
Report on any mishaps as soon as possible to Manager and record in the Incident/Accident Report book.
To report on condition of residents, receive instructions and ensure that these instructions are carried out or document reason for non-compliance.
To assess, implement and evaluate care for the residents.
To act as Senior in charge of the shift as required, leading, delegating and supervising care staff.
To order drugs, receive, store, administer, dispose and document as necessary.
To keep accurate and legible records and ensure that confidentiality is maintained.
To demonstrate safe moving and handling of each service user according to their level of capability and use of moving and handling aids as per company policy.
Ensure effective exchange of information concerning service user care and the Homes matters at each shift handover or at any other time during the shift to enhance care delivery.
To assist in the orientation of new staff.
To adopt a neat, clean and tidy appearance at all times and wear the appropriate uniform as supplied by the Home.
To be helpful and courteous to residents and visitors, referring enquiries about the residents' condition to the Person in Charge.
To report all comments, compliments and complaints.
To report any defects, damage, theft, breakages or hazards.
To be familiar with the policies and procedures and the Employee Handbook.
To attend training sessions organised in-house.
To maintain accurate and legible records of care provided. Complete other assessment documentation under the supervision of a qualified Person.
To attend fire evacuation and instruction sessions.
To carry out other duties as well, from time to time as directed.
To carry out all duties in a safe manner having regard to the Health and Safety of self, colleagues, residents and visitors to the Home.
To ensure adherence to the Company 'No smoking' policy at all times whilst on site.
