Overview of Job Role
We are seeking a
Senior Care Assistant
to join us in the exciting journey of opening of Aston Manor Care Home. This pivotal role requires an individual who can manage all aspects of care. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of people skills and an in-depth knowledge to deliver high standards of care provision.
Hours of Work:
24 to 48 hours per week // Day Shifts (8am - 8pm)
Bank Shifts are also available
(Rota pattern will cover Monday - Sunday)
Competitive Pay Rate:
15.00 per hour
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Provide leadership and support for care staff and act as a champion for residents' safety and dignity.
Maintain skills and knowledge and deliver personal care according to the latest guidelines and best practice evidence available.
Ensure that regulations with regard to ordering, custody, storage and administration of all drugs and medicines including controlled drugs are adhered to.
Review the daily delivery of care and ensure high standards of care are maintained.
Ensure the ongoing safety of residents, staff and visitors through systematic assessment, monitoring and reviewing processes.
Ensure accident/incident reports are written clearly and concisely and that any remedial action or learning is incorporated into care delivery.
Ensure that residents are encouraged and supported to remain as independent and active as possible.
Be knowledgeable about Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults policies and procedures and report any untoward events in accordance with the Home and Local Authority requirements.
Ensure that clinical equipment is maintained in a safe, clean and fully functional state. Report any equipment failures or damage to the Home Manager.
Ensure that clear and accurate records and communication systems relating to care delivery are maintained and effectively used.
Conduct and document care and risk assessments and assist in developing care plans related to the assessed needs and choices of individual residents.
Ensure that areas of identified risk are appropriately monitored, and outcomes recorded and acted upon. For example, fluid and nutrition charts and turning regimes etc.
Ensure effective and clearly documented handover systems are maintained to facilitate the effective transfer of information between staff and shifts.
To act as a professional role model to peer groups and subordinates and other health professionals.
Carry out any duties reasonably required to ensure the smooth operation of Aston Manor.
About You
Demonstrable track record in a senior care or care roles within care homes or domiciliary care environment.
Qualification in Lead Adult Care Worker (Level 3) is preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a people first approach.
Good proficiency in the use of IT systems.
Ability to multitask, prioritise and take ownership of this role with confidence and discretion.
Possess strong planning, organisational and supervisory skills.
