The Senior Care Assistant (SCA) acts as a bridge between the management team and the care staff. Your primary goal is to ensure the highest standards of person-centered care are met, while supervising a team of Care Assistants to maintain a safe, warm, and dignified environment for our residents.
Key Responsibilities1. Clinical & Personal Care
Care Planning:
Assist in the assessment, creation, and regular review of individual care plans to ensure they reflect the resident's current needs and wishes.
Medication:
Safely administer medication in accordance with policies and maintain accurate MAR (Medication Administration Record) sheets.
Monitoring:
Identify changes in residents' physical or mental health and escalate concerns to the District Nurse, GP, or Manager.
Direct Care:
Lead by example in providing personal care, including hygiene, dressing, and mobility assistance.
2. Leadership & Supervision
Team Support:
Supervise a team of Care Assistants on shift, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and with compassion.
Mentorship:
Act as a "buddy" or mentor for new staff members during their induction period.
Handovers:
Lead shift handovers to ensure vital information is communicated clearly between teams.
3. Resident Engagement & Advocacy
Dignity:
Ensure all residents are treated with utmost respect, privacy, and independence.
Activities:
Support the activities team in encouraging residents to participate in social events and maintain their hobbies.
Communication:
Act as a point of contact for family members, providing updates and emotional support when needed.
Must be 18+ and have a minimum of NVQ level 2/3 or working towards in Care or equivalent. Experience of working in a Residential Home is essential.
