We are now seeking an experienced Senior Care Assistant to join our growing team in Doncaster and Sheffield, helping us deliver outstanding care and leadership across our services.
Role Purpose
The Senior Care Assistant plays a key role in supporting the Registered Manager and Care Supervisors in the day-to-day coordination and delivery of high-quality care services.
You will lead by example, providing direct care and supervision to care staff, ensuring compliance with care plans, policies, and regulatory standards. You will also act as a mentor and role model, promoting a culture of compassion, reliability, and excellence in care delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Care Delivery & Supervision
Deliver high-quality, person-centred care in line with individual care plans, supporting independence, dignity, and wellbeing.
Supervise and support care staff during shifts, ensuring adherence to company standards and policies.
Conduct regular spot checks and care observations to maintain quality and identify areas for improvement.
Ensure accurate recording of care activities using the company's digital care system (20x).
Support with medication administration, ensuring safe handling and documentation in line with company policy.
Leadership & Staff Support
Act as a first point of contact for care staff during shifts, providing guidance and resolving day-to-day challenges.
Participate in the induction, shadowing, and mentoring of new care workers.
Promote team communication through regular meetings and handovers.
Escalate any staff performance, conduct, or welfare concerns to the Care Supervisor or Registered Manager.
Service Coordination
Assist with rota management and ensure care visits are delivered on time and by appropriately trained staff.
Support the management team in liaising with clients, families, and professionals.
Conduct risk assessments and contribute to the development of individualised care plans.
Respond effectively to emergencies, safeguarding concerns, or unplanned events, ensuring timely escalation.
Quality and Compliance
Ensure all care delivered meets CQC standards and internal quality frameworks.
Participate in audits, reviews, and service improvement initiatives.
Maintain accurate records, including daily logs, medication records, and incident reports.
Uphold confidentiality, safeguarding, and GDPR principles at all times.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
NVQ Level 3 (or working towards) in Health and Social Care.
Minimum 2 years' experience in a care or support role, ideally with supervisory or senior responsibilities.
Excellent understanding of person-centred care, safeguarding, infection control, and medication management.
Confident communication and leadership skills.
Ability to manage priorities, work under pressure, and maintain professionalism.
Flexible to work across Doncaster and Sheffield, including evenings and weekends.
Full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
Desirable Criteria
Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, or complex care needs.
Understanding of CQC regulations and quality assurance.
Experience using digital care management systems (e.g., 20x, Roundsys).
Willingness to undertake further leadership and clinical training.
