We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Senior Care Assistant to join our team and provide exceptional support to residents in a long-term care or assisted living environment. Duties
Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes promptly
Administer medications accurately following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure patient safety
Support residents with memory care needs, including dementia and Alzheimer's care, utilizing specialized techniques to promote comfort and orientation
Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements and assist with meal service to promote proper nutrition
Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts and other mobility aids safely to prevent injury during transfers
Maintain detailed care plans, documentation, and resident records in compliance with healthcare standards and privacy laws
Conduct regular patient observation to identify potential issues early and implement appropriate interventions
Engage in patient monitoring during activities and ensure a safe environment by adhering to infection control protocols including cleaning routines
Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social workers, and family members to coordinate comprehensive care strategies
Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a caring community atmosphere
Support hospice or palliative care needs with sensitivity and professionalism when required
Participate in ongoing training related to CPR, first aid, dementia care, autism support, and other relevant certifications
Skills
Proven experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care environments with a focus on senior or long-term care
Strong knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs measurement, medication administration, and care planning
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of resident information at all times
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident transfer devices
Excellent communication skills for working effectively with residents with developmental disabilities or cognitive impairments like Alzheimer's or dementia
Experience working with people with autism or other disabilities requiring specialized support strategies
Competence in basic cooking skills for meal preparation aligned with dietary restrictions or special needs
Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team committed to holistic patient care
Flexibility to adapt quickly in dynamic environments while maintaining high standards of safety and compassion
