To assist the management team in aspects of running and overseeing the Home, including taking responsibility in the Manager's absence. Lead by example to support and guide the care team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care that promotes residents' independence, dignity, choice, and privacy. Uphold the Home's reputation and maintain confidentiality at all times, demonstrating professionalism both within and outside the workplace.
Skills & Knowledge Required
Level 3 NVQ in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
Strong leadership, communication, and organisational abilities.
Experience working in healthcare or residential care settings.
Knowledge or experience of the Atlas medication system is advantageous.
Good understanding of medication management and audit processes.
Ability to conduct medication risk assessments.
Competence in overseeing and ensuring the accuracy of care plans.
Effective communication skills to liaise with management, staff, residents, and external professionals.
Confidence in managing staffing levels, shift patterns, and scheduling.
Sound awareness of safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional standards.
Commitment to promoting activities that improve residents' wellbeing and quality of life.
Main ResponsibilitiesStaff & Shift Management
Ensure appropriate staffing levels at all times, utilising available resources and liaising with agencies when necessary.
Oversee staff time management, ensuring fair allocation of breaks and adequate coverage in communal areas.
Provide hands-on support within the team as required to ensure smooth daily operations.
Care & Medication
Support the Manager and Care Facilitators with medication audits, PCS updates, and reviews.
Supervise staff in the safe administration of medication, ensuring accurate documentation when required.
Monitor care plans, addressing any gaps or concerns promptly with management.
Assist with medication administration and maintain clear, up-to-date records.
Resident Wellbeing & Activities
Encourage and develop activities that promote residents' mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing.
Engage residents in meaningful conversation and stimulation to enhance quality of life.
Support residents with personal care, including mobility, hygiene, and dressing needs.
Provide compassionate care to residents who are unwell and offer sensitive support during end-of-life care.
General Duties
Respond promptly to calls and greet visitors in a professional and welcoming manner.
Monitor and report any changes in residents' physical or mental health to the appropriate team members.
Carry out additional duties as required by the Home or as directed by the Manager.
Maintain flexibility to meet the needs of the Home, including working alternate weekends and day shifts.
