Assisting individual's mobility including the use of handling aids e.g. hoists, slings, slide sheets, walking aids, height adjustable beds and wheelchairs.
Assisting individuals with their nutritional requirements including providing help at mealtimes.
Participating in the development of residents activities to enhance quality of life as appropriate and in line with resident's choices and personal preferences. Encouraging and facilitating meaningful and engaged social and spiritual activities. To also liaise with the activities organiser.
Adhering to all organisational policies and procedures.
Adhering to Health & Safety guidelines and protocols and encouraging safe working practices and environments. Following and implementing fire safety and personal emergency evacuation procedures and food safety regulations and practices.
Adhering to Safeguarding principles and practices.
Respecting confidentiality of all knowledge and information pertaining to Maes Y Felin Care Home.
Maintaining resident's records accurately and feeding back all relevant and appropriate information.
Supporting all residents in achieving positive outcomes, offering choice and control.
To attend and take note of all training, to maintain continuous professional development, to attend team meetings, formal supervision sessions, annual work performance appraisal meetings and participate in quality assurance monitoring activities.
To assist the Deputy Care manager and Service manager with residents care planning, risk assessments and reviews and contribute to the written plan of care to ensure that individual personal, safety and welfare needs are met.
To administer residents medication from the Boots Monitored Dosage System and ensure care and support workers apply prescribed barrier creams, ointments, sprays and lotions and instil eye medication as directed by the GP. To complete residents MARR charts accurately recording a clear audit of medication administration.
To dispose of waste medication safely and appropriately in accordance with the Management of medication policy.
To assist G.P.'s, District Nurses and/or other health care professionals who visit the home and document the outcomes of the visit appropriately.
To undertake referrals to relevant health care professionals e.g. physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dentists, podiatrists etc when appropriate and under the supervision of the Deputy Care manager and/or Service Manager.
To deal with difficult situations with sensitivity, with specific regard to individuals who have challenging behaviour and communication difficulties and step in to relieve distressed employees when necessary.
To maintain a constant and consistent means of communication amongst the team, embedding an information sharing and duty of candour ethos.
