The Role:
Participate in the delivery of care to residents on the unit and be able to inspire colleagues to deliver care safely and to a high standard;
Monitor the care delivery practices of junior and new care staff.
Support junior and new care staff in developing appropriate practices and attitudes in the provision of care, including through bedside practice.
Support care and nursing staff to adhere to company policies, local guidelines and other directives.
Prepare and review person centered and service user-involving personal care plans.
Be knowledgeable about the care plans of residents and support junior staff in adhering to and implementing the care plan.
Monitor the documentation of care staff to ensure that it is accurate, timely, legible and appropriate to the care provided.
Monitor the cleaning, health and safety practices and clinical waste management on the unit.
Work as a champion in identified areas to support the welfare and safety of the residents.
Assist, if required, in training in specialised areas.
Assist in the preparation of duty rotas, if asked to, and support the nurse on duty in the day-to-day management of staffing on the unit to ensure there is adequate staff with appropriate skill and gender mix.
Accept from junior staff issues of concern about care and welfare of the residents, and inform the nurse in charge or unit manager of issues you have identified or have been brought to your attention.
Assume delegated responsibility, within you level of competence, from the nurse or Unit Manager.
Participate in the supervision of junior staff.
Assist in the ordering of clinical supplies.
Carry out any reasonable management instructions in the best interest of the resident.
Ensure that you behave in a manner in line with health and safety, to promote and maintain the safety and welfare of yourself and others.
Assist in the marketing of the service by showing around prospective residents / relatives.
Assist with the unit handover report, Receive the handover and cascade handover information to colleagues
Support and assist the Unit Manager in carrying out audits, including weight, mattress, environmental audits, etc.
