Cornerways Homes is seeking an experienced and motivated
Senior Residential Care Worker
to join our dedicated team supporting children and young people aged 11-17 in our small, family-style residential homes.
As a Senior, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the home, supporting the team, and leading by example in delivering high-quality, trauma-informed care. You will work closely with the Home Manager and Deputy Manager to provide structure, consistency, and positive outcomes for the young people in our care.
Key Responsibilities
Lead shifts and ensure all daily routines and care plans are implemented effectively.
Provide direct support and supervision to Residential Care Workers, offering guidance and role modelling best practice.
Build trusting, nurturing relationships with children and young people, promoting safety, stability, and independence.
Manage challenging behaviours using therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches.
Ensure safeguarding procedures are always followed and concerns are reported appropriately.
Contribute to care planning, reviews, and key working sessions to promote individual development.
Maintain clear, professional, and accurate records and reports.
Support with staff induction, training, and supervision as required.
Assist with rota planning and ensure appropriate staff coverage on each shift.
Work in partnership with families, social workers, education providers, and other professionals to achieve the best outcomes for young people.
Experience and Skills
Experience working with
children or young people
in a residential care setting is
essential
.
Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and behaviour management.
Excellent leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
Calm, confident, and resilient approach to supporting children with complex emotional and behavioural needs.
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
is required.
Level 4 Diploma
(or willingness to work towards) is desirable.
Full UK driving licence (preferred).
First aid training and medication administration experience are advantageous.
