Key responsibilities
Lead and supervise a care team, delegating tasks, coordinating shift activities, and ensuring care plans are followed.
Deliver person-centred hands-on care when required, supporting residents with dignity and compassion.
Assist with safe moving and handling, including lifting, transferring, repositioning and mobility support.
Oversee wellbeing and activities, promoting engagement and monitoring physical and emotional needs.
Maintain accurate records, observe changes and escalate concerns to senior clinical staff or management.
Coach and support junior staff, delivering on-the-job mentoring, induction, and practical training.
Ensure compliance with policies and professional standards, exemplifying our Philosophy of Care and acting in line with the General Social Care Council Code of Conduct.
Promote a safe environment, showing regard for health, safety and welfare of residents, colleagues and visitors.
Person specification
Proven experience in residential or nursing care, ideally with previous supervisory or senior care responsibilities.
Strong knowledge of care planning, safeguarding, and basic clinical practice, including hygiene standards.
Leadership skills, able to motivate a team, manage conflict and support performance.
Excellent communication and record-keeping, with the confidence to escalate clinical or safeguarding concerns.
Calm, compassionate and resilient, able to prioritise and respond flexibly to changing needs.
Relevant qualifications or willingness to undertake further training, for example NVQ/QCF level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
