Position Overview: Senior Healthcare Assistant (HCA)
We are currently seeking experienced and driven Senior Healthcare Assistants to join respected care homes and residential facilities. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about delivering outstanding care and who possess the leadership skills needed to support and mentor junior team members. You will play a key role in enhancing the quality of life for residents while contributing to a positive, person-centred care environment.
Core Responsibilities
Supervise and support junior Healthcare Assistants, offering hands-on guidance, mentorship, and training.
Provide high-quality, dignified care to residents, including assistance with personal hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and continence needs.
Administer medications safely and accurately in line with care plans and organisational procedures, ensuring proper documentation.
Monitor and report changes in residents' physical or mental health to senior clinical staff promptly.
Assist in developing, reviewing, and implementing individualised care plans in collaboration with the nursing team.
Maintain comprehensive, accurate records and ensure all documentation complies with regulatory standards.
Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies, prioritising resident safety and wellbeing.
Encourage participation in activities and social engagement to promote emotional and psychological wellbeing.
Ensure compliance with safeguarding protocols, infection control, and health and safety regulations.
Communicate professionally with residents, family members, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
Candidate Requirements
A minimum of two years' experience as a Healthcare Assistant in a care home or similar healthcare setting.
Previous experience in a senior or team-leading role is highly desirable.
NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent qualification) is essential.
Strong understanding of care planning, delivery, and review processes.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
Compassionate, reliable, and able to manage responsibilities independently and collaboratively.
Resilient and calm under pressure, especially in challenging situations.
Must have the legal right to work in the UK.
An enhanced DBS check is required (support can be provided in obtaining one if needed).
