We are looking to appoint a senior care staff member, to work at our small residential home in Dudley.
Job Summary
The senior care assistant will lead a team of care assistants during shifts.
You're a caring person with a can-do attitude.
Experience supporting older people, ideally those with learning disability and dementia.
You've got the confidence to lead a care team and act as champion for the safety and dignity of residents.
Responsibilities and Duties
To serve as a role model and set the required standards.
To take charge and co-ordinate the work of the shift
To run the shift and organise staff breaks with adequate staff cover to attend to residents.
To ensure that all staff contribute and work as a team for the efficient running of the home
To act up in the absence of the Manager and Deputy Manager
To take charge of the delivery of care & delegate the workload fairly amongst the team
To support the Manager when assistance is required
Administer medication safely.
Delegate tasks and monitor staff achievements
To assist with greeting visitors and provide information as required
To observe all aspects of care & inspect for shortfalls whilst working together with other carers
To act as the Fire Marshall in the Managers absence in an instance of a Fire breaking out
To organise all need for evacuation during a Fire
To hold responsibility for the delivery and evaluation of care by the junior care assistants.
To enforce the implementation of companies requirements.
To act on the report of the changing needs of the residents.
To maintain high standard of care at all times and deal with all shortcomings
To enforce set standards of care as prescribed by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), ensuring safe practice at all times.
To maintain a safe environment at all times ensuring the safety of the resident is paramount, and the communal & personal areas in the Home are kept clean and tidy.
To ascertain & value the importance of the role of everyone.
To contribute to junior staff personal development and serve as a point of access for advice
To assist in the completion of induction and care certificate
To participate in the measurement of CQC outcomes through audits.
The communicate well with health care professionals over the phone and face to face.
To promote evidence based practice in accordance to in-house guidelines, policies & procedures.
To ensure that all Company policies and procedures are adhered to and that the Homes philosophy of care is applied at all times.
To communicate effectively to all staff and residents, and to ensure that the highest possible standard of care is provided and that documentation is contemporaneous, accurate, legible and comprehensive.
To co-ordinate the care of a designated group of residents demonstrating effective problem solving and key working skills
To work flexibly to meet service need including undertaking rotational shifts from day to night and weekend shifts when required.
Qualifications and Skills
Previous experience required and a Minimum NVQ Level 3 or Working Towards for the right candidate

Pay: 488.40-913.44 per week
