Job Description

This job is mainly in school term time plus hours equivalent to one additional week to be worked flexibly. The hours are 37 per week to be worked Monday to Friday. The salary above is the pro rata amount.

Job Overview

To supervise and lead the kitchen staff with the preparation and presentation of food in a busy school kitchen; provide a friendly service at the point of sale and assist with cleaning duties at the end of each day

Responsibilities

? Assist with the preparation of food. This may include peeling, chopping, mixing, baking for example.

? Unload new food deliveries and replenish stocks in the kitchen storage areas

? Prepare the dining area for service, which may include stocking food sales points; moving and/or setting up furniture and trolleys

? Prepare the service area, hot cupboards and other equipment

? Be friendly and polite to all visitors and customers to the kitchen

? Wash crockery, utensils, surfaces and all other catering equipment to regulated standards

? Undertake training as appropriate for the role such as health & safety and food hygiene courses

? Report any defects in equipment or premises

? The Senior Catering Assistant will be required to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, and follow school policies and the staff code of conduct.

Qualifications

- Previous experience in catering, restaurants, hotels, or similar hospitality settings (essential)
- Knowledge of food safety practices and procedures (essential)
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on guest satisfaction
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Basic understanding of food preparation techniques is essential
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
