Overview


We are seeking an experienced and passionate Chef to join our kitchen team at The George and Dragon, Clifton. Working under the leadership of Head Chef Paul McKinnon you will play an important part in further developing the reputation of this well renowned food led inn.

You should already have experience as Chef de Partie, and have proven stability on your previous roles. You will be looking to develop into a more senior role, taking on joint responsibility for quality, profitability and team development .

The George and Dragon is part of Ciel Hotels, and as such is able to provide career progression in the years to come.

Duties



Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with our field to fork ethos. Exacting specifications and quality are key. Helping oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficiency and organisation. Supervise and manage kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to foster teamwork and professional development. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times. Assist in menu planning, ingredient sourcing, and inventory management. Train new and existing staff members in food preparation techniques, safety procedures, and service standards. Collaborate positively with front-of-house teams to ensure seamless service delivery. Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area and ensure all equipment is properly maintained.

Skills



Proven experience in food production, cooking, and kitchen management within a hospitality or restaurant setting. Supervising experience with the ability to lead a team effectively. Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices. Excellent culinary skills with a passion for using and making the best of local and fresh ingredients. Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and manage staff efficiently. Good organisational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously under pressure. Experience in hospitality environments with a focus on customer satisfaction. Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members both in the kitchen and front-of-house staff effectively.
