: Paid at hourly rate of 13.33

Hours of duty:

36 - 48 hours a week

Working hours will be based on a shift rota. This includes day and night shifts. Other shift options may be available for applicants wishing to work alternative hours.

BACKGROUND



Carterhatch House is an Ofsted Registered three-bed Children's Residential Care Home which is renovated and furnished to a high standard and launched in March 2022. Our aim is to provide a safe, secure, nurturing 'family home' to help vulnerable children and young people progress and achieve the best outcomes across all aspects of their lives. This will be a highly therapeutic residential setting with one-to-one staffing ratios.

The team in Carterhatch house work as a 'good family' in each child's life. We provide exceptional one-to-one care alongside tailored therapy programmes for each child, integrated with strong partnership working with the relevant statutory and community providers/organisations, to deliver care and support which meets the holistic needs of the children and young people. We also support and encourage each other through the challenges and rewards that come with helping vulnerable young people back on to their feet.

Carterhatch House is a project of Foster Care Link, an Ofsted Outstanding fostering agency with an 18-year track record of delivering excellent outcomes for children and young people on behalf of over seventy Local Authorities.

JOB PURPOSE



We are looking for Senior Residential Child Care & Support Workers to support the Registered Manager to:

Ensure the home provides the highest quality bespoke care for our children & young people in a nurturing, positive, safe and secure environment; Work with the Registered Manager and team to create individual and group activities plans to stimulate and develop children and young people to develop their life skills and informal education; Support young people to achieve the outcomes set in their care plans and evidence this progress/achievements; Shift lead, manage and lead the residential child care and support workers team; Manage the domestic duties rota and ensure that the home remains clean, presentable and well maintained; and Contribute to all day to day operations of the home.
You will also be expected to:

Work shifts including evenings, weekends, sleep-in duties and public holidays;

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS



Qualifications



Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or an equivalent qualification). Candidates that do not hold this qualification will be expected to achieve it within 12 months of passing their probationary period. Commitment to proactively seek and undergo professional training & development opportunities

Experience



Minimum 1 year experience of working in a Children's residential care home

Skills/Abilities



Proven leadership and team working skills, with the ability to organise the teams work whilst delivering your own work; Engaging, hardworking, a strong determination to succeed, leads by example and also through support and guidance; Proven ability of caring for and supporting troubled children and young people while maintaining professional boundaries helping them to achieve excellent outcomes; Good written and spoken English to compose clear and concise reports and communicate effectively with colleagues, parents and other professionals; and Have a high level of mental and physical resilience with the ability to cope in emotionally and physically challenging situations

Knowledge and understanding



Knowledge and understanding of the relevant regulations/legislation relating to Children's care homes, safeguarding, health & safety and equal opportunities including:
The Children's Homes (England) Regulations and quality standards 2015

Working together to Safeguard Children (2018)

Other



Ideally hold a valid UK driving license and have full access to your own car Commitment to work on a rota including weekends, public holidays and sleep-in shifts The ability to adapt working hours to meet the requirements of the home
