We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate

Senior Children's Residential Practitioner

to play a pivotal role in shaping the lives of children under our care. This profound responsibility demands dedication, compassion and integrity. For those who embrace this calling, it is one of life's greatest rewards.

Your role will be responsible for leading a team to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children in our care. You will be supported by an experienced leadership team, focused on creating the right environment for you to thrive in, embedded in trauma informed practice.

Responsibilities



Lead and supervise a team to deliver high quality care to children in our care Develop, implement, and review personalised care plans in collaboration with social workers and other professionals to ensure optimal child-centred care Ensure the safety, health, and emotional wellbeing of all children under your supervision Organise daily activities that promote development, education, and independent social skills Maintain accurate records of care provided, incidents, and progress reports Facilitate effective communication between children, families, external agencies, and team members Ensure compliance with all safeguarding policies and procedures at all times Support team training and development, promoting reflective practice and professional growth Drive a positive team environment that encourages teamwork, respect, and continuous improvement Work flexibly including working shift patterns, sleep-ins and delivering on-call to meet the needs of the home.

Requirements



Proven experience working with children within a childcare or residential setting Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively Knowledge of child development principles and childcare best practices Experience in creating and managing care plans tailored to individual needs Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to liaise confidently with children, families, and external agencies Proficiency in IT systems relevant to record keeping and reporting tasks Commitment to safeguarding policies and procedures at all times Organised, proactive, with a caring approach focused on the best interests of children

Experience & Qualifications



Leadership or Senior practitioner experience preferred Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (desired) Full UK Driving License
We will also accept applications from candidates with:

NVQ3 Caring for Children & Young People / NVQ3 Health & Social Care BA (Hons) Working with Children, Young People and Families BA (Hons) Social Work Level 4 Therapeutic Child Care Diploma in Child Psychotherapy or Therapeutic Counselling
