Responsibilities:



As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will work with a dedicated team to provide care and support to the children and young people in our homes. Your role is crucial in creating a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment for their positive development. Key responsibilities include:

Providing emotional and social support: Building meaningful relationships with the children and encouraging their interaction with peers and adults within the community. Enhancing self-esteem and respect: Helping each young person in your care develop a positive self-image and ensuring they feel respected and valued. Promoting positive life choices and independence: Supporting the children in making positive decisions and achieving levels of independence appropriate to their age and abilities. Accurate and detailed recording: Maintaining meticulous records of events, observations, progress, child protection matters, and health and safety checks. Care planning and assessment: Collaborating with the manager and other professionals to create, implement, and review individual care plans based on the children's needs. Interdisciplinary collaboration: Working closely with the social workers, therapists, teachers, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive care for each child. Involvement with families: Facilitating supervised contacts with the young people's families as necessary. Daily living support: Assisting the children with their daily living needs in accordance with their care plans and risk assessments. Domestic duties: Conducting household tasks and involving the children when appropriate, including planning, shopping, and preparing meals to ensure a varied and balanced diet. Taking lead on each shift to ensure the standard and quality of care we deliver is to high level On call responsibilities which will include 3 on calls per month, one of which being a weekend day. The rota for this will be prepared in advance and the on calls are separate to your shifts.

Requirements:



Minimum of NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Residential Child Care. Previous experience in a similar residential care role working with children Ability to work 24-hour shifts as per the shift pattern, one in two off. Ability to commit to the 3 on calls per month that are separate to your contracted shifts. Understanding of expectations of commitment around working over holiday periods i.e. Christmas and Easter. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Compassionate, patient, and understanding approach. Strong record-keeping and organisational abilities Dedication to promoting the welfare and development of children and young people.
