A day in the life of a Senior Children's Worker


Your day begins with a warm welcome, supporting children as they start their morning routines and encouraging independence with plenty of reassurance. Later, you might be leading your team in planning activities that help children learn, play, and take part in their communities.

Throughout the day you'll:

Act as a keyworker, reviewing and updating care plans Guide colleagues and step in with confidence when the Team Leader is away Build strong partnerships with families and carers Create safe, supportive spaces where every child feels included and valued By the evening, you'll know you've made a real difference in helping children feel safe, empowered, and ready to thrive.

What you'll bring

You'll have experience of supporting children and young people, ideally with some knowledge of learning disabilities or challenging behaviour. Alongside this, you'll bring patience, positivity, and a genuine passion for helping young people succeed. With confidence to guide others, a team-centred approach, and a commitment to working within our Christian ethos, you'll be ready to lead by example.

As we do our work in Christ's name the job you have applied for requires you to have a Christian faith and be able to work within and uphold our Christian Ethos. This is an Occupational Requirement under Part 1 of Schedule 9 to the Equality Act 2010.


This post requires you to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and undertake the necessary vetting checks. You will also be required to be registered with SSSC and it is your professional responsibility to ensure that you meet the standards and criteria for registration.
