Following their recent acquisition from Capita PLC, the Capita Real Estate and Infrastructure (REI) and GL Hearn businesses are now part of WSP. Your new role, what\'s involved?

  • Resolving technical civil and structural engineering issues.
  • Manage and check the production of drawings, reports and specifications.
  • Undertake CRE responsibilities on Rail projects.
  • Providing technical support to junior engineers and support their career development.
  • Management and ownership of project tasks

  • Be part of a diverse, dynamic, and innovative engineering team in Leeds that is currently growing in size. Great opportunity to get into a team which has relatively small numbers and grow into the role and progress in a supported and flexible working environment, with involvement in interesting and challenging projects
  • Opportunity to work on a variety of projects in the railway industry from early conceptual design through to construction. Projects will range from a number of smaller projects to large multi-million pound projects. Projects include, HS2, Re-Signalling Schemes, Station Platform, DC/AC Electrification schemes, Train Depot, Bridge repair, Station Access for All and level crossing schemes.
  • Some of our current projects include platform extension works in the northwest, a new Footbridge in Beverley, signalling renewal works in North Wales, Canopy strengthening, and refurbishment works at Middlesbrough station, building demolition works in Willesden and temporary parapet design for a footbridge.
  • Growth opportunity through the engineering grades with dedicated support from a mentor and other more experience colleagues, firstly progression to Principal Engineer. A training and development plan will be tailored to suit your progression with quarterly progress review by your mentor. We support career progression to become ICE member at CEng and IEng level.

We\'d love to hear from you if you have:
  • Experience of working in the UK rail industry. .
  • Experience acting as a CRE.
  • Experience in deliveringand managing all stages of multi-disciplinary engineering projects from initial studies through to detailed design.
  • Chartered Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers or nearing Chartered status.
  • Working knowledge of NR standards, Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, British and European Standards, Eurocodes and Codes of Practice.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of audience using different mediums.
  • Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team comprising planners, designers, engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance to less experienced members of the team.
  • Able to manage your own time to meet project deadlinesand budget targets.
  • Ability to manage project tasks and communicate the status clearly.
  • Site experience in the Railway environment.
  • Ability to respond to Project Manager and Client requests and meet challenging deadlines.
  • Experience working in some of the below areas:
  • Re-signallingand electrification projects.
  • Level crossing renewal projects.
  • Railway Depot and Station design \xe2\x80\x93 AfA, platforms, station buildings and canopy design.
  • General Rail lineside civils works i.e., Ancillary structures, UTX/URX, cable containment.
  • Structural design in concreteand steel structures i.e., railway structures such as signal gantry, OLE supports.
  • Bridge design, refurbishment and strengthening schemes.
  • Structural inspection & assessments.
  • Temporary work designs.
  • Experience of delivering GRIP 1-5 stage projects.
  • ProjectWise experience in project delivery.
