The role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Civils Estimator to join our growing team and take a leading role in the pricing and tendering of civil engineering projects.



The successful candidate will have hands-on site experience, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to independently prepare accurate, competitive tenders for a wide range of civil engineering schemes.

Role and responsibilities;

What your role will include:

Winning Work:

Drive our success by producing winning tenders and nurturing key customer relationships.

Cost Estimation:

Create precise cost estimates for materials, labour, and equipment, based on customer drawings and specifications.

Market Insight:

Stay ahead of the curve by understanding current market prices and benchmarking our solutions for increased success rates.

Collaboration:

Work closely with the Head of Local Authorities and the Business Development Manager within a thriving pre-construction team to uphold J McCann Limited's procedures, business strategy, and clearance levels.

Customer Engagement:

Assist in presenting tender proposals to customers and actively participate in customer meetings throughout the tender process.

Risk Management:

Assess and adhere to all risk assessments and health and safety requirements, ensuring the safety of all stakeholders.

Supplier Selection:

Source suitable sub-contractors and specialists for each project to guarantee the highest quality standards.

Teamwork:

Collaborate effectively with Construction Managers, Planners, Bid Writers and the Design Team to ensure seamless project execution.

Documentation:

Prepare comprehensive documents for senior management to showcase cost calculations and project feasibility.

Knowledge Transfer:

Ensure a smooth handover of bid documentation to the commercial and project operations teams.

Essential criteria;

Who we are looking for:

Qualifications

: A degree in General Civil Engineering or a related field.

Experience:

Proven experience in pricing General Civil Engineering and Highways tenders.

Knowledge:

A deep understanding of civil engineering, construction and framework arrangements.

Confidence:

Independently pricing projects with minimal reliance on others.

Direct and concise:

Exceptional analytical skills, including strong financial acumen and organisational abilities.

Ability

: Thrive in high-pressure situations and meet tight deadlines.

Excellent Communication:

Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
