This post would benefit a post CCT/CESR or ST7 in O&G who wishes to develop an interest in complex obstetrics. This post will provide the opportunity for the post holder to develop skills in managing complex caesarean section (eg. Fibroids, placenta praevia), surgical management of major obstetric haemorrhage, birth planning for women with high BMI / previous abdominal surgery / PAS alongside our Consultant lead for complex obstetric surgery.
This post would include attendance in high risk antenatal clinics, elective caesarean section list, gynaecology theatre developing relevant skills. There would be opportunity to complete a SITM in pre-term birth prevention, supportive obstetrics or pregnancy care.
We would expect the post holder to possess skills detailed on the RCOG Training matrix ST1-7 and be competent at leading out of hours shifts as a Senior Registrar.
The post holders will be required to contribute to a 48 hour EWTD full shift rota. The remainder of the job plan each week will consist of general middle grade duties on Labour Ward and emergency gynaecology; allowing the successful candidates to maintain their skills in general Obstetrics and Gynaecology .
