Senior Clinical Fellow in Critical Care Medicine
Cross Site Critical Care Units at Epsom & St. Helier Hospital NHSTrust

Main duties of the job
The main aim of the post is to enable the post holder to recognise potentially life-threatening
situations and equip them with the knowledge and skills to initiate immediate resuscitative
measures. It will also train them in the appropriate use and interpretation of cardio-pulmonary
monitoring. Training will be competency-based, according to the recommendations of the InterCollegiate Board for training in Intensive Care Medicine and continuous assessment and 360
degree appraisals will also be employed. There will be regular consultant-led teaching sessions

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post has night on-call commitment based on a 1:8 rota, which will be based at St Helier
Hospital, covering ICU and HDU. There will be 2 junior doctors every night. In day time there will
be minimum 4 junior doctors in the unit. The unit is always covered by a consultant intensivist,
who is on-site from 8 AM to 9 PM and then on-call (non-resident).

Minimum 2 year experience in Emergency medicine/General Medicine or one of branches/Anaesthesia/ Criti cal Care/Surgery in St1/2 level
No more than 6 months employment gap immediately before the application closing date
Provider in ATL, APLS or similar

Instructor in ATLS,APLS,ALS or similar
