The successful applicant will have both inpatient and outpatient duties They will need to be confident in the assessment of sick children and have a good understanding of the challenges of managing complex multisystem disorders and diseases of the brain and spinal cord. They will need experience of working in a multidisciplinary team and have excellent verbal and written communication skills They need to be enthusiastic, keen to learn and demonstrate commitment to delivering high quality care as part of the neurosciences team. DUTIES OF THE POST This is a 40-hour post with no on call commitments. The post holder will spend on average 1 day/ week in a ward based role and 4 days/week undertaking outpatient duties.
The outpatient duties will be within the epilepsy service. Epilepsy clinic activity 2-3 clinics per week with dedicated time for NORCESS administration and neurophysiology. There will be dedicated time for CPD to facilitate participation in research and governance projects. The postholder will be able to develop their understanding of research and support will be provided to assist with for projects/publications/ presentations.
There will opportunities to attend at relevant conferences and courses. The postholder will actively contribute to neurophysiology, epilepsy surgery and neuroradiology meetings. Ward work: Assessment and initial management of acute admissions to the neurosciences ward. Day to day care of inpatients on the neurosciences ward including completion of EDANS and discharge letters on days when providing ward cover Attendance and contribution to multidisciplinary meetings and teaching activities.
