Job Description

The post holder would take part in the General Paediatric and neonatology acute rota.
The rota is EWTD (European Working Time Directive) compliant.
Two middle grade full-shift rotas run: one team covering the Hippos /A&E/ ward area with the other team covering the NICU/ labour ward.
3 Community SpRs from the Greenwich & Bexley Community Paediatric teams participate in the acute on-call rotas.
The First on call Paediatric Team consists of a mix of ST1 Paediatric Trainees, GPVTS trainees (mainly from the Greenwich and Bexley schemes) together with FY2 trainees.
Main duties of the job
Responsibility, in rotation with others, for the Neonatal unit, Ambulatory unitor Children's Ward, alternating with the other middle grade doctors.
Seeing Children on request in the A&E department.Regular attendance and active participation in outpatient clinics.
Participation in overall supervision and education of resident doctors and medical students. Taking an active part in the department's education program.

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualifications MRPCH/MRCP (part I) Full current GMC registration

  • NLS/APLS/PALS Course
  • Significant experience in recognised Paediatric SHO training post and must have appropriate neonate experience at SHO level
Desirable
  • Outpatient experience of at least 20 (post registration) paediatric clinics

  • Able to work without direct supervision where appropriate, according to level or experience
  • Sound manual dexterity and competent in routine practical procedures as expected for experience
  • Clear Logical thinking/shown an analytical/scientific approach. Understanding of evidence informed practice
