The Senior Clinical Pharmacist (Dispensary) will perform a dual role within the Ashtons named patient supply team. Principally the Senior Clinical Pharmacist will directly manage a small team of Clinical Pharmacists within the Dispensary, ensuring the successful clinical screening of prescriptions on a daily basis in order to meet the needs of our customers and their patients. Additionally the role will offer clinical support, expertise and mentorship to the wider Dispensary function to enable the named patient service to operate ethically and in line with company Standard Operating Procedures and regulatory standards.
Principal Accountabilities:
To take personal accountability to ensure the clinical screening practices within the Dispensary operate successfully and to meet the needs of customers and patients
To coach, mentor and oversee the Dispensary function from a clinical perspective as the Responsible Person; ensuring the named patient service operates ethically and in line with SOPs and meeting regulatory standards
Manage the Clinical Pharmacists in the Dispensary to ensure adequate coverage of staff at all times, to delegate and allocate work as required to ensure all prescriptions and supporting documentation are clinically screened and processed appropriately
Act as the escalation point for clinical queries arising from or related to the Dispensary function
Collaborate with Managers/Team Leaders from the wider Dispensary operations function to ensure the smooth operation of the named patient service as a whole
To identify opportunities for continuous improvement activities
Responsible for the training, coaching and mentoring framework across Dispensary Operations
To oversee the maintenance of accurate records of controlled substances at all times
Participate in coverage of duties for Accuracy Checking technicians during busy/peak periods
Investigation and resolution of complaints, errors or processing issues as required
To be participate in the maintenance of robust and accurate Standard Operating Procedures, with approval by the Quality team and Chief Pharmacist
Operate quality control measures to minimize errors and maintain highest standards of patient safety
Stay up to date with regulations, guidelines, and best practices, and ensure adherence to them
Collaborate with regulatory bodies during inspections, implementing corrective actions as necessary
Adhere to company and external Health & Safety Standards; including taking care of your own health and safety and that of colleagues, cooperating with management and following instructions, completing the provided training, and prompt reporting of any hazards, illnesses or injuries
Adhere to our company Data Protection procedures; including the completion of annual training, using the provided secure ways to handle/dispose of data, and prompt reporting of any suspected breaches
Help keep the business environment clean and tidy, be responsible for keeping own and surrounding areas clutter free, working within cleaning schedules as required.

Be responsible for managing performance and personal development of direct reports, including completion of appraisals and personal development plans
Lead on ensuring all HR policies and procedures are adhered to for all direct reports, including absence management, sickness, capability and disciplinary policies
Oversight of day to day performance of assigned staff to meet assigned Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
Essential Education, Experience and Skills:
Education
MPharm degree or equivalent, and a Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
Experience
Minimum two years of experience in leading a Pharmacy dispensing team or service
Detailed understanding of the GPhC principals and standards.
Skills
Fluent in the English language
Excellent organisational and leadership abilities, with an ability to learn and adapt quickly
Strong communication and people skills
Logical thinker and adept at creating or maintaining procedural documentation
Calm under pressure and skilled at prioritising conflicting priorities
