BAM Infrastructure is seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Commercial Assistant to join our dynamic team delivering major civil engineering projects across Scotland. This is a pivotal role, contributing to high-profile infrastructure developments--particularly in the energy sector--as we help shape Scotland's journey to net zero.



You'll play a key part in supporting and enhancing commercial performance across multiple projects, including the construction of critical substations. You'll bring a keen commercial eye, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work with autonomy in a fast-paced, evolving environment.



This role will be initially based at our Kilsyth Office, then move to a site-based position.

Your mission

As a Senior Commercial Assistant, you will work closely with the commercial and project teams to ensure robust cost control, accurate reporting, and contractual compliance.



Your responsibilities will include:

Leading the collation and analysis of commercial data across project workstreams. Supporting monthly cost and value reconciliations, including preparing accruals and forecasts. Managing subcontractor accounts and ensuring timely, accurate processing of payments and invoices. Producing high-quality cost-monitoring reports and identifying variances or risks for escalation. Maintaining and improving cost-capture systems and commercial reporting tools. Coordinating with operational teams to ensure accurate allocation and tracking of resources. Taking ownership of document control processes related to commercial functions. Mentoring junior commercial staff and contributing to continuous improvement across the department. Ensuring full compliance with internal procedures, contract terms, and procurement policies.

Who are we looking for?

English and Mathematics National Qualifications or equivalent Proven experience in a commercial or quantity surveying support role, preferably within civil engineering or infrastructure. Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail. Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise across departments and with external stakeholders. Advanced IT proficiency, especially in Excel, cost systems, and MS Office suite. A strong interest in the construction sector and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
