We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager, who will be responsible for the overall coordination and delivery of all \'The Greater Game\' project activity, working in collaboration with Commercial Partnerships, Marketing, Grassroots and the principal partners of the FA (M&S Food, Mars, Nuffield, Nike, and Howdens.)

What will you be doing?

Core Responsibilities:

  • Overall project coordination and management of The Greater Game (TGG.)
  • Lead development of master project plan with all workstream milestones.
  • Lead implementation of master plan coordinating across stakeholders.
  • Working alongside marketing to develop the marketing communications plan.
  • Lead the development of project delivery processes and communications.
  • Lead workstream meetings, bringing cross-functional teams together on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for coordinating project delivery across all areas.
  • Responsible for senior stakeholder management, communications, and approvals.
  • Responsible for developing future workstreams to elevate health & wellbeing across The FA and partners.
Agency Management:
  • Manages the day-to-day retainer relationship with external agency including but not limited to monthly finance tracking, scope of work and wider onboarding and relationship building. Supported by PR & Campaigns Manager.
  • Manages wider relationships with agencies on an ad hoc basis, depending on the role they play in the planning and delivery of The Greater Game.
  • Manages the relationship with long-term ambassadors and influencers overseen by PR & Campaigns Manager
Wider project deliverables

Project deliverables below will be led by the division with the role holder responsible for coordinating and managing delivery:

Grassroots Programme:
  • Works closely with the Grassroots Football (GRF) team to plan and deliver the TGG programme from pilot to launch including leading briefs to consultants, agencies, and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead the agency pitch process for event management company - from briefs, procurement process and stakeholder management with GRF and Marketing.
  • Supports GRF team and consultants on the rollout of the GR programme, acting as brand guardian and partner representative.
Brand & Marketing (Youth focussed campaigns:)
  • Support Marketing by co-ordinating the delivery of the integrated marketing campaigns focussed on youth (12-16s) inspiring them to make one healthier action per week during the \'post-school period\', taking pre-approved campaign strategy into the planning and delivery phase.
  • Leads workshop sessions with partners (Nuffield, M&S Food, ITV) to amplify campaigns relevant to the partners focus areas, with the support of agency partners.
  • Supports Marketing by coordinating delivery of all brand and marketing-related event planning and delivery for grassroots programmes and content capture for TGG commercial activities.
Partner Management:
  • Build a solid relationship with the wider Partnerships team to understand partner objectives and focus, and how the ethos of TGG can permeate through England or partner Grassroots activities.
  • Leads partners meetings and workshop sessions to amplify TGG initiatives and campaigns relevant to the partners focus areas.
  • Mines additional opportunities to elevate TGG and the \'ethos\' of TGG across relevant partners (i.e., M&S Food, Mars, Nuffield, Nike, Howdens).
Please note, this role is advertised on a fixed-term basis until 31st July 2024.

What are we looking for?

Essential for the role:
  • Project Management qualification (e.g. Prince) or qualified by strong experience.
  • Experienced managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders across a large organisation.
  • Flexible approach able to adapt and manage multiple stakeholders with different objectives and deadlines.
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to present to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Beneficial to have:
  • Marketing & communications expertise ideally with a sports background.

Our Organisation

The Football Association [The FA] is the not-for-profit governing body of football in England. We currently work within a hybrid working model whereby the expectation is to work from your contractual location for part of the week, and as and when required by the team. The remaining days can be worked remotely. We will continue to monitor this model and it may be adjusted in future if deemed necessary.
