Fixed Term Contract until September 2027
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Senior Community Archaeologist for the Swale Estuary region, on a large community-led grant project with a digital mapping component.
Coasts in Mind (CIM) is a Heritage Funded three-year project, centred around community led indicators of coastal and climate change, through community donated images, documents, and oral archive. The project offers an exciting opportunity supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Lloyds Register and Historic England, to work innovatively with coastal communities to turn community held information into scientific data for coastal stakeholders. Through a community archive of heritage data, our new CiM team will bring new and exciting methods of championing the heritage that coastal communities value most, and find within them modern-day coastal change connections.
You will be one of four regional Community Archaeologists nationally, each supporting the duties of their regional Project Officers in the following areas: Poole Harbour, Sefton Coast, Swale Estuary, Taw-Torridge Estuary. The primary purpose of the role is to work closely with community partners and participants to deliver public events and training, as well as collect and moderate data for the project mapping platform in the form of oral histories, images and documents.
