The Position

In this role, you will assist the company in operating in a compliant and ethical manner with regard to the ABPI Code of Practice, Business Ethics and other relevant legislation and guidelines.

The nature and scope of main accountabilities will be to:

  • Implement and manage an effective compliance programme to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and guidelines including EU directives, UK Medicine Law, the ABPI Code of Practice along with MHRA guidelines for the advertising and promotion of medicines in the UK.
  • Proactively ensure all employees maintain awareness of the Code and our Business Ethics Compliance Framework dependent on their role, on relevant requirements and standards impacting the business.
  • Provide high level strategic guidance to the business on compliance with the Code and the Business Ethics Compliance Framework, including direct interaction with directors and senior managers both in the UK and at a Regional and Headquarter level.
  • Lead on preparing for internal and external audits in relation to compliance and Business Ethics, creating and managing effective action plans in response to audit findings and compliance deviations.
You will also be conducting training programmes on compliance matters (ABPI, Business Ethics or any other relevant regulations and guidelines) across departments.

Qualifications

Your education background will be at degree level or equivalent, preferably within Compliance, Law, Business or the Sciences.

On top of that we would expect:
  • High knowledge of, and experience of working with, the ABPI Code of Practice within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience in healthcare / pharma industry with knowledge of analysing compliance issues, sales, marketing or medical information.
  • Experience of reviewing promotional and non-promotional material.
  • Detailed knowledge of leading on high level Compliance matters within a pharmaceutical industry setting.
  • Proven ability too present confidently and succinctly to very large groups of employees, including on occasions to all employees at Plan of Action meetings.
About the Department

Legal, Quality & Compliance Department is a directorate within the UK affiliate, consisting of 12 employees across the three functions of Legal, Quality and Compliance. The teams work fluidly with each other to ensure each area is updated on all priorities across the team.
